Applying for a liquor license in Dallas, TX involves a multi-step process. The first step is to apply through the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC). You can apply for a new license or permit through the Alcohol Industry Management System (AIMS), which is your hub for conducting TABC tasks. The TABC processes close to 100,000 licenses and permits each year and can assist you with your licensing needs. Once TABC has completely processed your application, the original permit will be mailed to you and it must be displayed in plain view on the premises selling the alcoholic beverages. The cost of the permit is determined by TABC, and you can contact them at 214-678-4000 for more information.

After receiving the State License, you should contact the downtown Dallas County Tax Office to receive the County Permit. The fees due to Dallas County are half of the state fee. The Dallas County Tax Office is located at 500 Elm Street, Suite 1200, Dallas, TX 75202, and their contact number is 214-653-7072. Additionally, a local fee must be paid to the City of Dallas by every person who is issued a permit or license through the TABC for an establishment in the City of Dallas. For more detailed information, you may visit the Dallas County Tax Office website.

Finally, applicants must obtain the TABC application, Alcohol Measurement Certification Checklist, and Alcohol Certification Affidavit Forms. These completed and notarized forms must be submitted to the City of Dallas Permit Center for certification located at 320 E Jefferson Blvd.  Room 118, Dallas, Texas 75203. You may also contact them at (214) 948-4480.

The City will verify the zoning through the Sustainable Development Department. There are minimum distance & zoning requirements: 300 feet from a religious institution, public hospital, and public or private school. The sale of beer and wine is limited to specific non-residential zoning districts in Dallas. A bi-annual local fee is charged to businesses engaged in retail beer and/or liquor sales or wholesale beer distribution approved by the state.
