Applying for a liquor license in Miami, Florida involves a few key steps. Firstly, you need to obtain a Certificate of Use from Miami-Dade County or the specific municipality where your business will be located. This certificate verifies that your business is allowed in the zoning district where it is located and that the structure was built for the proposed type of business. You can complete the Certificate of Use application for alcohol sales if your establishment is a restaurant, cafeteria, convenience or package store, or a wholesale or distribution business. The application form requires details about your business such as the business address, mailing address, name of the corporation, name of the business, corporate officer or business owner's name, business phone number, and fax number. You also need to provide information about the location such as the size of the space, type of alcohol you plan to sell (liquor, wine, beer), and the type of building. The completed application form can be submitted online via the Miami-Dade County website or in-person to the Zoning Permits Section located at 11805 SW 26 Street, Suite 106, Miami, FL 33175.

Once the Certificate of Use has been processed, you can then apply for a state liquor license with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. There are different types of licenses to sell alcoholic beverages. For selling beer or wine, you can purchase a consumption-on-premise license or a package license. To sell liquor, a quota license must be obtained. You can apply for a new license by clicking on the 'Apply for a License' link on the homepage or under the 'Online Services' section. The application process requires you to provide your Social Security Number or Tax Number, select the appropriate Board and Profession from the drop-down boxes, and then click search. In this case, you should select 'Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco' under the License Board.

Please note that a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is a prerequisite to obtaining a Certificate of Use. For more information, you can contact the Customer Contact Center at 850-487-1395 or via email. If you do not wish to supply a personal address, provide the Department with an email address which can be made available to the public.
