We’d love to learn more about your experience starting NoRa. Tell us about your place!
Leo: We started NoRa with the goal of creating a fast, casual Asian-fusion concept. We really wanted to focus on food that would travel well and could be easily enjoyed at home. Also, we wanted to help our Burmese community do better financially. Now, most of the store operators have become franchise owners of NoRa Asian Fresh.
And how long have you been open for?
We started with Figami Asian Fresh on 35th Ave and then another one on Camelback Road, both in Phoenix, Arizona, in December 2018. So almost five years!
You’ve grown quickly – 17 locations! What has that been like?
During the pandemic, the demand for online delivery increased so much that we were able to expand our locations. There was a lot of uncertainty in our industry, so we’re glad we were able to come out much stronger.
And we were able to grow so quickly because of our team members at each store. They all are very hard-working new immigrants.
How long have you been an Otter customer?
We’ve been a customer for about 3 years now.
How has Otter helped your delivery & business as a whole?
We use [Otter’s] Order Management and Financials. One of my favorite features is being able to see a financial report for all our locations in one place. The Otter tablet and printer makes online delivery much easier to manage.
You also use virtual brands through Otter. Were you ever hesitant to start using them? What made you decide to go for it?
Virtual brands are becoming a trend for our industry. I would rather be ahead than catching up later.
Any advice you’d want to give to fellow restaurant owners?
Take care of your people and they will take care of your business for you. My team can come to me for any business or personal matter at any time.
If someone was to place a delivery order with you, what are the top three items they should include?
Ramen, teriyaki chicken, and orange chicken.
