Otter POS: Item-based refunds
What: Otter POS customers can now refund specific items and not just a specific amount. Refund like you normally would and select the “items” tab on the left hand side. Note:taxes and other charges will be included in the amount.
Value: Previously, your staff had to calculate the right amount if only a part of the order needed to be refunded. With this feature, they can process refunds faster, easier, and with less risk of errors right from the POS terminal.

Otter POS: Close-of-day checklist
What: Supervisors now have a checklist to ensure all open transactions are closed, staff are clocked out, and drawers are reconciled. Close the day by going to the home screen of your Otter POS and tapping the close the day button (sunset icon). Staff still clocked in can be clocked out from the same screen.
Value: With the long list of tasks required to properly close a restaurant at the end of the day, supervisors may sometimes forget some items. This update improves consistency across your operations and makes it easier to do accounting at the end of the period with a routine that your team can easily follow.

Loyalty: Points from receipts
What: QR codes can now be printed at the end of your receipt for guests to easily claim points from their order or sign up for your loyalty program. Head to the Loyalty app in your Otter Dashboard, navigate to the specific loyalty program and toggle collection of post-order rewards. This also enables your Online Ordering and Kiosk channels, if available, to include QR codes in their receipts. Check out our help center for details or learn how Loyalty can help you drive repeat orders.
Value: Guests can miss earning loyalty points or even signing up for your loyalty program when they’re in a hurry. Now, they don’t need to worry about missing out on points when they can claim it after their purchase. You’ll also be able to increase the signups to your loyalty program.
Otter POS: Edit discounts
What: Existing POS discounts can now be edited to configure their discount type, amount, and other settings. Navigate to the Marketing app > POS Discounts and select the discount you want to edit. It may take up to 10 mins for changes to take effect.
Value: You’ll no longer have to delete and create new discounts just to update a setting.

Otter POS: Compact Layout
What: A new compact layout for your Otter POS menu allows you to compress items on the screen to see more. Select between this or the default layout by going to the POS app on your Otter Dashboard and navigating to the Devices > Terminals menu. A new option for a three-column layout is also available.
Value: You can now see more items on the screen so you can scroll less to find the specific item you need.

Online ordering, QR code ordering, and kiosks: Negative modifiers
What: You can now build your menus with modifiers that, when removed from an item, will adjust the item’s price. For example, guests can skip the cheese on their hamburger and its price will be adjusted to reflect that. To find out more about configuring modifiers, visit our help center.
Value: Your guests will appreciate an easier way to customize their orders and your staff will be freed up from manual adjustments for every custom order.
Analytics: Net sales
What: A new Net Sales metric is now available in the Analytics app’s Sales dashboard. This shows you your estimated sales after discounts and adjustments, including paid canceled orders. It excludes unpaid canceled orders. Note that this can still differ from your payout statement due to fulfillment status, adjustments, and error charges still being finalized.
Value: Previously, your (Gross) Sales number can differ greatly from your actual payout because of various adjustments. With the Net Sales metric, you have a clearer picture of what your final payout may look like.
