Jan 11, 2024 | 2 min read

As of January 1, 2024, the minimum wage in San Francisco, CA is $18.07 per hour. This rate applies to all employees who work in San Francisco, including temporary and part-time employees, who work two or more hours per week. The minimum wage in San Francisco is adjusted annually based on the regional Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures price changes for essential consumer goods in the Bay Area. This marked the biggest increase in the city’s minimum wage in the past eight years, from the previous minimum wage of $16.99 per hour in 2022.

However, it's important to note that some employees at government-subsidized non-profit organizations who are under 18 years of age or over 55 years of age are subject to a lower minimum wage rate. As of January 1, 2024, this lower rate is $15.98 per hour. Employees who assert their rights to the City’s minimum wage are protected from retaliation.
